- 100% multiple choice across six subjects, given over two days. The four major subjects (Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology and Parasitology, Blood Banking and Serology) carry a 20% weight each; Clinical Microscopy and Histopathologic Techniques with MT Laws and Management carry 10% each.
- How long it is

- The subjects
- It is scored across 6 subjects: Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology and Parasitology, Blood Banking and Serology (Immunohematology and Serology), Clinical Microscopy (Analysis of Urine and Other Body Fluids), Histopathologic and Cytologic Techniques, Medical Technology Laws, and Laboratory Management. Each subject grade counts toward your general average.
- What it takes to pass
- A general average of at least 75%, with no subject rating below 50%. You need a general average of at least 75% with no grade below 50% in any of the six subjects (RA 5527, as amended, and the Board of Medical Technology rules). A grade below 50% in a subject is a conditional or failing result.
- When it is given
- Held by the PRC (commonly twice a year, over two days). Confirm exact dates at prc.gov.ph.
Common pitfalls, and how to avoid them
- Studying unevenly. One weak subject can pull down your average or drop you below the 50% floor, so give every subject real time, not just your favorites.
- Never practicing under time. Knowing the material and answering it at exam speed are different skills. Take at least one full timed mock before exam week.
- Cramming instead of spacing. Short, daily review beats a few marathon sessions. Work a lesson and its quiz, then move on and come back.
- Skipping the review of wrong answers. The explanation on a missed item is where the learning is. Read every "why", not just the score.

Graduates of a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science (BSMT/BSMLS) program from a CHED-recognized school who have completed the required internship and meet the PRC eligibility requirements.
