What to expect in the Licensure Exam for Professional Teachers

Exam day, at a glance
- The format
- 100% multiple choice. Elementary: General Education (40%) + Professional Education (60%). Secondary: General Education (20%) + Professional Education (40%) + Area of Specialization (40%). Given twice a year.
- How long it is
- The LET runs to roughly 300 questions and the board sets aside about 6h for it. Our timed mocks are paced to the same seconds-per-item, so exam-day speed feels familiar.
- The subjects
- It is scored across 3 subjects: General Education (Gen Ed), Professional Education (Prof Ed), Area of Specialization (Secondary only). Each subject grade counts toward your general average.
- What it takes to pass
- A general average of at least 75%, with no subject rating below 50%. You need a 75% general average with no part below 50%.
- When it is given
- Twice yearly (commonly March and September/October). Confirm dates at prc.gov.ph.
Common pitfalls, and how to avoid them
- Studying unevenly. One weak subject can pull down your average or drop you below the 50% floor, so give every subject real time, not just your favorites.
- Never practicing under time. Knowing the material and answering it at exam speed are different skills. Take at least one full timed mock before exam week.
- Cramming instead of spacing. Short, daily review beats a few marathon sessions. Work a lesson and its quiz, then move on and come back.
- Skipping the review of wrong answers. The explanation on a missed item is where the learning is. Read every "why", not just the score.
