Exam day, at a glance
- The format
- Pen-and-paper (CSE-PPT), 100% multiple choice, ~165 items in about 2 hours and 40 minutes. Given nationwide twice a year (typically March and August).
- How long it is
- The CSE Sub-Pro runs to roughly 165 questions and the board sets aside about 2h 40m for it. Our timed mocks are paced to the same seconds-per-item, so exam-day speed feels familiar.
- The subjects
- It is scored across 4 subjects: Verbal Ability (English & Filipino), Numerical Ability, Clerical Ability, General Information. Each subject grade counts toward your general average.
- What it takes to pass
- A general average of at least 80%. The CSC gives one overall rating. You pass at 80.00% with no per-subject minimums, but every area still counts toward your total, so none can be skipped.
- When it is given
- Twice yearly: usually March and August. Watch csc.gov.ph for the official examination announcement.
Common pitfalls, and how to avoid them
- Studying unevenly. One weak subject can pull down your average, so give every subject real time, not just your favorites.
- Never practicing under time. Knowing the material and answering it at exam speed are different skills. Take at least one full timed mock before exam week.
- Cramming instead of spacing. Short, daily review beats a few marathon sessions. Work a lesson and its quiz, then move on and come back.
- Skipping the review of wrong answers. The explanation on a missed item is where the learning is. Read every "why", not just the score.
